1F- Introduction Area
Taiwan's total land area is only about 36,000 square kilometers (14,400 square miles), but there are 23,037,031 residents. Taiwan lies on the western edge of the Pacific "rim of fire," and continuous tectonic movements have created majestic peaks and severe earthquakes. Typhoons sometimes strike the island in summer (June to August). Therefore, its important to teach people to understand the threats from fire and natural disasters. Only by understanding proper safety information can we prepare ourselves and our families. Each year people die or are injured in fires, many of which could have been prevented. Because of this, Taipei City Fire Department (http://english.tcfd.taipei.gov.tw/) built the first Fire Safety Museum in Taiwan to let people practice fire prevention and teach them what to do both during and after a fire. This museum is equipped with a professional training facility, firefighting equipment and a multimedia theater.

1F- Children's Safety Training Classroom
In this area, children will find short lessons about escape planning, smoke alarms and general home fire safety. It is recommended that an adult guide children through the lessons. Some lessons have a brief quiz on the touch screen computers to test children's knowledge of the subject. Also there is a game area to reinforce the information learned from lessons. This floor is designed to increase the level of individual concern about and awareness of children's vulnerability to fire and also educate children about how personal responsibility and action is key to preventing fires and fire-related casualties.
