Taiwan is located in the Pacific rim interactive zone, with a dense population and adjacent buildings in small areas. Fires, earthquakes, typhoons, heavy rain and other disasters are frequent, but the general public lacks disaster prevention knowledge and emergency response abilities; therefore, when a disaster occurs, it often causes serious loss to people's lives and property. To ensure the health and safety and property of citizens and public security, the Taipei City Fire Department specially planned and established Taiwan's first disaster prevention scientific education museum to help visitors learn about all kinds of disasters from actual experience and build disaster prevention knowledge so that when a disaster occurs, people react calmly and deal with the disaster properly to avoid a crisis. The museum also provides information on self-rescue and rescuing others as well as response methods.

The museum is well designed with telephone, computer and mechanical equipment and uses various hardware and software disaster prevention training equipment, so that each visitor can experience what a disaster is like and learn valuable disaster prevention knowledge so that if they are faced with a disaster in the future, they can respond properly and reduce the risk of injury. The more modern and high-density the city, the more hidden dangers there are; to protect people's health and safety and property, we should have knowledge of disaster prevention at all times and never forget that major disasters can cause serious destruction, while disaster prevention can reduce damage.

Children are the leaders of the future. The growth of knowledge and wisdom today is the driving force of the country. So they grow up and contribute to the country and society, they should have safety in mind first. The Fire Department of Taipei City Government says that you will face many things each day and you may encounter a fire or earthquake so it's important to learn how to deal with it.

Everybody: Do you know how a fire is formed? First, there has to be something combustible, such as paper, wood, gasoline, gas and so on; with sufficient air, and when the temperature reached the point of ignition, the combustible combusts and fire is generated.

Smoke is an important product of the fire combustion process and it produces black carbon particles and smoke particles. Black smoke produced by burning decorations, carpet, tables, and plastic toys has a toxic effect on the human body, meaning we can't open our eyes and we can't see in front of us so it hinders our escape, endangers our lives and can even cause death.

What do you do if a fire breaks out? First of all, don't panic, and follow an adult's instructions. Escape as soon as possible. When escaping, use a wet towel to cover your nose and mouth, drop low to the ground, and escape along the wall from the safety door and ladder to the ground floor. Do not take an elevator or try to jump out of a window.
