3F Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation Exhibition

Origin

Whether the August 1 Gas Explosion, the Baxian Dust Combustion, a large public security accident or a fire caused by a stupid mistake, the Sunlight Foundation has witnessed constructions burning, high costs and hardship following incidences and looks forward to actively promoting prevention education and, in collaboration with the Taipei City Fire Department Disaster Prevention Scientific Education Museum, creating an integrated interactive and educational experience to enhance public awareness of disaster prevention and reduced injuries.

  • Theme Introduction: SEEING DANGERS
    • See what a fire hazard at home is like through the environmental control projection.

    • Are you using an extension cord correctly?

    • Unexpected electrical fire!

    • How do you deal with a gas leakage?

  • Experiential learning makes disaster prevention education more interesting!

Fires often start when people are careless. Through the theatrical digital interactive experience, you can understand the causes of fire, see the dangers and hidden factors of neglect, prevent fires and reduce disasters.

  • Theme Introduction: SEEING HOPE
    • Did you pick the right door and go the right way?

    • Tablet interaction dispels the myth of survival!

    • Escape wand tests your calm index!

    • What details should you pay attention to when on a tour bus?

  • Challenge yourself to a 90-second escape test!

What should you do when a fire breaks out? Dispel common myths through the fire simulation. Test your calm index with the escape wand. Don't let common survival myths become invisible killers.

  • Theme Introduction: SEEING SUNSHINE
    • See the effects of severe burns!

    • Why do burn victims have to wear pressure suits?

    • How do people start over after getting seriously burned?

    • Digital picture books show wounds from Baxian and people's brave experience!

See the transformation of three brave men in 1,095 days!

The Baxian Dust Combustion changed the lives of nearly 500 young people; after the incident, injured people had to start rebuilding their lives. Through the digital interactive audio books, we invite you to learn about their brave experience.

  • 3F Earthquake Simulation Area (Earthquake refuge 3 points: Drop, Cover and Hold On)

Earthquakes can instantly destroy our homes; buildings collapse, people die or are injured, and loved ones get lost. Taiwan has an average of 200 felt earthquakes a year, so we must be prepared and take preventive measures, action the correct response, and handle matters properly; only then can we reduce casualties.

Since earthquakes are unpredictable, we should always be ready to action protection measures: everyday home items should be fixed, and heavy furniture should be secured, especially explosive items like gas tanks. Decorations shouldn't damage beam or columns and each family should have a contingency plan and meeting place.

  • Earthquake Simulation Area Layout Overview

The earthquake experience area on the third floor features first-phase engineering facilities and equipment. Due to the long-term use of the vibration platform since its opening in 1998, parts of the vibration machine have been damaged. The museum replaced and updated the equipment in 2019, adopting a new six-axis hydraulic cylinder vibration device, and introduced a new earthquake degree grading system of the Central Weather Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and a 3-type simulated earthquake event machine, supplemented by the popular surface-type equipment, to promote greater knowledge of earthquakes and help people understand disasters.
Zone A "Earthquake Protection and Escape Experience Area":The simulated vibration platform in the earthquake experience area teaches the relevant actions in response to an earthquake and introduces the earthquake early warning system. In addition to the four steps of earthquake prevention (hiding, opening, closing and escaping), visitors learn about DCH (Drop, Cover and Hold on) during the experience.

Zone B "New Knowledge of Earthquake Warning and Earthquake Protection":
To strengthen the public's emergency response to strong earthquakes and reduce damage caused by disasters, interactive publicity has been applied to the "regional" earthquake warning system in Taipei City by referring to the "Strong Earthquake Instant Warning System (PWS)" of the Central Weather Bureau of Ministry of Transportation and Communications. It also helps people understand the causes of earthquakes so they know the difference between S and P waves and accurate earthquake protection.

Zone C "Understanding Earthquake Hazards and Preparedness and Response at Home":
The emergency shelter kit display cabinet is placed according to the area of the site, supplemented by interactive multimedia teaching design, so that visitors can better understand the concept of emergency shelter kit configuration and prepare their homes in case of emergency. Through the interactive learning design, visitors can gain knowledge of disaster prevention parks and priority resettlement schools around their homes. Also featured is the history of Taiwan earthquakes, the faults of the Taipei Basin and the potential areas of soil liquefaction disasters to enhance the public's knowledge of disaster prevention.

  • 3F CPR Training

As society progresses and industry and commerce develop, diseases, accidents and serious disasters are frequent, and emergency rescue is increasingly important to everyone. First aid is a national necessity. Through images, text descriptions, the first aid instructor's explanations and practice on mannequins, the First Aid Classroom teaches visitors all about first aid methods and comprehensively promotes CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and how to handle a situation when someone chokes on a foreign object so everyone can help save lives.
